The app to open PCAP files
Sharkreader is an Android application designed to read PCAP files and, thus, network traffic. Although it can be described as an application to test the WiFi security, it is not.
Reads PCAP data packets
The PCAP extension is mainly linked to programs such as Wireshark, a software that can be used to analyze networks. These files are data packets generated by the program that contains traffic data running on a network. With this application, the user can intercept and read the data that goes through WiFi. Although this application can be used for unethical purposes, everyone is free to use their network as they wish to as long as all network users are aware of it.
The application has a very basic interface where you just have to click on its icon to launch it. It is also important to know that the application may be unstable on some devices since the developer dropped the project some time ago.
Requirements and additional information:
- Minimum operating system requirements: Android 1.6.
- The installation of the app by means of the APK file requires the activation of the "Unknown sources" option within Settings>Applications.
With a degree in History, and later, in Documentation, I have over a decade of experience testing and writing about apps: reviews, guides, articles, news, tricks, and more. They have been countless, especially on Android, an operating system...
